Early Action: apply sooner, receive admissions decisions sooner
Early Decision: same as early action but you can only apply to one school early decision, and if you get in it is a “binding” contract (however, if you do not receive the financial aid you need, you can decline the offer)
Regular Decision: apply during regular decision period and hear back later
Each college has a slightly different timeline for when they begin accepting applications. You can check on the college websites to see the dates. It is always a good idea to have your common application finished in advance.
